In order to achieve maximum health, it is essential we return
to the basics. Mankind was originally placed in a special garden
and
his food was available just for the picking. Therefore, our forefathers
lived long and they lived well. But our modern day life style has
separated us from much that is wholesome, not only with food but
in the way we treat our various and sundry maladies. With this as
our focus, we therefore look upon the herbs as both our food and
our "medicine". (To quote Hippocrates, "Let food be
your medicine and medicine your food.") Here at Back
to Basics Health Center, we not only sell the bottled
herbs, but we have gardens close by at Herb Haven Farm where you
can see, smell, and taste many of the native herbs. The more you
interact with the plants, the more attuned you will become to their
basic essence, to their healing potential! To help facilitate this
interaction with plants, we have established a 30' x 60' formal
herb garden, an Egyptian angle garden, and a large metered circle
vegetable garden. Garden tours are available by appointment only.
To help others learn more of the Back To The Basics principles,
we have weekly classes each Tuesday evening, from Sept though May.
During the summer, we have special events such as classes featuring
20 Michigan herbs, etc. Please call the office for the current
scheduling.
